A developing model for neighbourhood management Organisation Logo past13/07/2009 - 31/10/2009
The developing model for neighbourhood management sets out our thinking on how to improve Local Neighbourhood Partnerships (LNPs). It describes how all partners move to a neighbourhood management approach. The document is for consultation and, with amendments, is to be implemented by April 2010. Local Neighbourhood Partnerships (LNPs) have been operating in Walsall for five years. Initially, LNPs were an exemplar for community engagement. However, the demand and expectations for high quality engagement, giving local people influence over services and priorities in their area, has increased. In 2008, the Chair of Walsall Partnership and the Chief Executive of Walsall Council ordered a review of LNPs to be undertaken by Walsall Partnership. Consultant support was secured with the support of the Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (RIEP). Partners and LNPs were widely consulted. A sub-group of Walsall Partnership was created to oversee the review.

Social Care and Inclusion - Response Centre Consultation Organisation Logo past25/03/2009 - 30/06/2009
Adult’s social services are working on changing and improving our services and how people get in touch with us. We support and advise vulnerable adults and older people. We plan to make social care services more modern and give people more choice and control over the care services they receive. One of our first tasks is to develop a response centre and a single phone number, linked to the corporate first stop shop. We want to consult widely on our plans for developing a response centre, and will be giving people a range of different ways they can get in touch with us and have their say over the next 3 months. This will include a postal questionnaire, a public meeting, workshops and an online survey.

Walsall’s draft HAMP is yet to be populated with financial data, but in time it will ultimately set out what we want to achieve, identifying investment needs and priorities, with established and co-ordinated programmes of work. Our Highway Asset Management Plan embraces Walsall’s corporate policies that relate to business, finance and risk management, forging strong links with Walsall Council’s goals, objectives and aspirations. The Plan signals the beginning of a new approach to maintaining the council’s road network.
