Highway Asset Management Plan

Print

Overview of Consultation: The Department for Transport is positively encouraging all authorities to produce a Highway Asset Management Plan in accordance with its published document titled “Maintaining a Vital Asset”. Walsall’s draft HAMP is yet to be populated with financial data, but in time it will ultimately set out what we want to achieve, identifying investment needs and priorities, with established and co-ordinated programmes of work. Our Highway Asset Management Plan embraces Walsall’s corporate policies that relate to business, finance and risk management, forging strong links with Walsall Council’s goals, objectives and aspirations. The Plan signals the beginning of a new approach to maintaining the council’s road network.

How is this consultation being carried out? Consultation is being carried out across the West Midlands and includes direct consultation with all West Midlands authorities. External stakeholder consultation includes organisations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Freight Transport Association, Centro, the emergency services and motoring rescue organisations.
