Childrens Trust Youth Opinions Unite are working with the United Kingdom Youth Parliament (UKYP) Members and Deputy Members for Walsall. The UKYP representatives will be consulting with young people across the Borough to find out their views on knife and gang crime in Walsall. Adults were also asked for their comments too. This will be their main local campaign for their elected term 2010/2011. The need to consult with young people came from a questionnaire delivered during the 2010 elections. The questionnaire asked young people what their main issues and concerns were as a young person living or attending school in Walsall. Over 7000 young people completed the questionnaire and the top issue was Knife and gang crime in Walsall.

As part of the development of the new Walsall hospice in Goscote, artists are working with the local community to develop involvement and understanding in the work of the Palliative Care Centre and the creation of pieces of artwork for the new building. Three artists will be working with local residents to gather their thoughts and ideas. This consultation will inform the development of artistic works which will be placed in and around the new building, the works will take the form of a piece of stained glass for the Sacred Space, a 3D piece for the Courtyard and 2D photographic pieces for the interior. Workshops based around the theme of 'Celbrating Life' will be delivered to local people from communities around the Goscote site. Through sensitive conversations and creative participatory arts activities with local people, we will build up a background of material which will inform the creation of all artworks made.
